The bibliography, inevitably largely in Polish but with significant English-language works as well, can help readers find further information.
There are not many who could have written this book, indeed, ex- ceedingly few, and it was fortunate that the task was taken on by Marek Haltof.
Born and partially educated in Poland, he has also studied in Australia and Canada, subsequently teaching in Poland and Canada, and presently teaches in the United States, where he is professor in film at Northern Michigan University.
